Early Life in Laredo, Texas
He grew up in Laredo as the child of two immigrant parents. His mother came to the United States from Ecuador, while his father came from Iran. He has described himself as a Texas native shaped by both family backgrounds.
That upbringing gave him connections with Persian, Ecuadorian, Mexican, and American cultures. He has also discussed difficulties fitting conventional Hollywood ideas about ethnic identity. Those experiences later influenced how he viewed representation and the characters offered to him.
Public sources disagree about his birth year, which can create confusion online. IMDb currently lists September 27, 1994, and several current sources use that date. That makes him 32 years old as of October 2026.
Tennis and Education Before Hollywood
Acting was not his original professional plan. As a teenager, he took tennis seriously and attended the John Newcombe Tennis Academy. He later played collegiate tennis while studying at Laredo College.
He earned an associate degree in business administration from Laredo College. He then studied economics at the University of Texas at Austin. His parents owned businesses, so a business-focused career initially seemed like a logical path.
His direction changed while attending the University of Texas. Film and acting became increasingly important, eventually replacing the career path he had expected. That shift started a professional journey built through smaller productions rather than instant franchise fame.
How His Acting Career Started
His professional screen credits began appearing during the late 2010s. Early projects included A Palestinian Christmas, Phaedra, Red 11, and other independent work. He also moved behind the camera through writing, directing, producing, and editing projects.
That independent period helped him build experience before larger Hollywood credits arrived. He appeared as Barry in the 2021 film King Richard. He then played Ismail in A24’s The Inspection, released in 2022.

Why Eman Esfandi Became Closely Linked With Ezra Bridger
His biggest breakthrough came when Lucasfilm cast him as Ezra Bridger. The character originated in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Ahsoka brought an older version of Ezra into live action during its first season.
The casting had an unusual personal connection for the actor. He later explained that he felt strongly drawn toward playing Ezra before receiving the role. Reports also described him telling his representatives that he believed he should play the character.
His preparation went beyond copying the animated performance. He watched selected Rebels episodes recommended by creator Dave Filoni. He also researched the Force, George Lucas, Filoni, and wider Star Wars ideas.
Months of stunt preparation followed before filming. He trained for lightsaber sequences and learned to work with Ezra’s blue contact lenses. His first filmed scene was reportedly Ezra’s final scene from the Season 1 finale.
What Comes Next for Ezra Bridger
Lucasfilm has confirmed that Ezra will return in Ahsoka Season 2. The new season premieres on Disney+ on January 20, 2027. Esfandi appeared with Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen when Lucasfilm promoted the next chapter at D23.
That return gives his career another major franchise chapter. Lucasfilm has already shown Ezra in a new costume for the upcoming season. Official promotion also promises larger battles and continuing conflict involving Grand Admiral Thrawn.
His Spider-Man: Brand New Day Appearance
His profile expanded further through Spider-Man: Brand New Day in 2026. He appears as the man dating MJ after the events involving Peter Parker. The theatrical credits reportedly identify the character simply as “The Boyfriend.”
Later digital-release details generated debate about whether that character is Paul. Esfandi publicly pushed back against the interpretation despite subtitle evidence using that name. The safest description remains MJ’s boyfriend unless Marvel provides clearer character information.
The appearance also creates an interesting connection with other actors in Marvel’s Spider-Man projects. MagVibes has a profile of Zach Cherry’s film and television career, including his own Marvel work. Their careers show how supporting franchise appearances can reach audiences beyond television roles.
Movies and TV Shows Worth Knowing
His filmography remains smaller than many established Hollywood stars. Still, several credits show his progression from independent work into major franchises. They also reveal a mix of drama, science fiction, sports films, and superhero entertainment.
| Project | Year | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Phaedra | 2018 | Apollo |
| Red 11 | 2019 | Funny Guy |
| King Richard | 2021 | Barry |
| The Inspection | 2022 | Ismail |
| Ahsoka | 2023 onward | Ezra Bridger |
| Firewall | 2025 | Baba |
| Spider-Man: Brand New Day | 2026 | MJ’s boyfriend |
| Ahsoka Season 2 | 2027 | Ezra Bridger |
Unlike performers whose careers are defined by one format, he has moved between independent films and franchise productions. MagVibes’ Craig T. Nelson career profile shows a much longer example of cross-format longevity. Different generations may recognize the same actor from completely different projects.
Music as DragonWulf
Acting represents only one part of his creative work. He also raps and sings under the stage name DragonWulf. IMDb lists that music identity, and he has discussed his musical interests during long-form interviews.
Music once became especially important when he considered leaving acting behind. During a 2024 interview with Katee Sackhoff, he discussed moving toward rap after becoming frustrated with acting. His eventual Star Wars opportunity changed that professional direction again.
This combination makes his career broader than a standard actor biography suggests. Acting, music, directing, and producing have all appeared in his professional record. Those interests also reflect a career developed through experimentation rather than one fixed route.
Directing and Work Behind the Camera
He directed short projects before becoming widely known as Ezra. IMDb currently credits him with directing, producing, and editing work alongside acting. That background gives him practical experience on both sides of production.
The work also helps explain why his early career does not follow a simple audition-to-stardom story. He was creating independent material while trying to establish himself as a performer. That experience preceded the larger studio projects that later brought wider recognition.
For another actor whose work extends beyond a single signature television part, see MagVibes’ Peter Hermann biography. Long careers often grow through several connected creative roles. Smaller projects can remain important even after franchise recognition arrives.
Is He Married or Dating Anyone?
Reliable public information about his current romantic life remains limited. Established interviews and professional biographies focus mainly on his family background, career, music, and acting. They do not provide dependable confirmation of a wife or current partner.
That absence matters because celebrity biography pages often repeat unsupported relationship claims. A lack of public confirmation should not become evidence for a specific relationship status. His documented professional history offers far stronger information than speculation about private relationships.
Why His Career Stands Out in 2026
His story combines several paths that rarely appear in the same biography. Competitive tennis led into economics, independent filmmaking, music, and eventually major franchise acting. Each stage appears to have contributed something different to his professional identity.
Ezra Bridger remains the role most closely associated with him. Still, the Marvel appearance and expanding filmography give audiences more places to encounter his work. The upcoming second season of Ahsoka should keep his Star Wars role highly visible into 2027.
His background also adds context to his career without reducing him to ethnicity alone. He has spoken openly about being the son of Iranian and Ecuadorian immigrants. Those experiences have informed how he thinks about casting, identity, and representation.
